Veil Wedding Event

On April 17, I had a opportunity to participate in a fun, intimate wedding event called “Veil.” As a more casual affair, Veil enables couples planning their wedding to talk with the few carefully selected vendors in a relaxed, informal environment, while enjoying refreshments and delicious food. There are one or two vendors in every category, from cakes to dresses to photography (of course!) Veil is put together by the fabulous Kathy and Steph of Marliss Productions, and they have a complimentary website called VeilTV, which has interviews with local vendors and lots of great planning tips for your wedding!

My Second Favourite Subject – FOOD!

I was recently asked if I would be interested in photographing some dishes for Onyx Steakhouse and Pearl on the Rock restaurants in White Rock. How could I say no, when my second favourite subject to photograph (after people, of course!) is food! And I have to say, the food at these two establishments is fabulous – fresh, colourful, and presented beautifully (not to mention, delicious!), so it was a pleasure to photograph each and every dish. If you’re in the area, (or even if you’re not, it’s worth the drive), check out Onyx and Pearl on the Rock for a decadent dining experience!

Mozart Bakery – Wedding Cakes and Deliciousness!

I first saw Estelle’s amazing wedding cakes at the Savvy Bride Show, where we were both in the “Fire” themed room. I thought it would be great to connect with her further, so I offered to come by Mozart Bakery and do some head shots for her and her assistant Michelle. Check out her website – not only does she do fabulous and unique wedding cakes, but she also does corporate work and has a lovely little cafe inside the bakery in Langley!*Just an additional note – Estelle’s work was recently featured in the online magazine, Bakers Journal – and my photo was on the cover! Savvy Bride Wedding Show

On Sunday, March 28, I had the pleasure of taking part in the Savvy Bride Wedding Show, where I got to meet some fabulous brides and also see some amazing work by my fellow wedding vendors. The Show had three rooms – Fire, Earth, and Wind. My display was in the Fire room, appropriate since I was promoting both my wedding and boudoir work. All of the rooms looked amazing, so I thought I would share some photos of my favourite displays for those who missed this great show! Also, a big thank-you to Kerry Reid of Fairy Godmother Weddings, who did a fantastic job of pulling this event together, all the while keeping it creative, organized, and fun!

Gorgeous cakes by April Bellia of April Cakes (I especially love the one with the “cameos” all over it) – oh, and trust me, they taste as good as they look! April Cakes was in the “Wind” room, which used theme colours of white, violet, and pale pink – beautiful!

In the “Fire” room with me was Mozart Bakery, who had created some incredibly unique cakes – I think the “tattoo” style cake is just too cool!

And lastly, a little piece of my display – with a wonderful floral creation by Flower-z – thanks Evan!

“Veil” Wedding Event – Thank You!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who attended “Veil” at the Terminal City Club on Sunday, January 31. I had a great time meeting new clients and of course chatting with fellow vendors! A very special thanks to Kathy Marliss of Marliss Productions who organized this event along with Tanya Peters of Milestone Events. And of course another special thank you to Terminal City Club for hosting this fabulous event! Here’s a list of the some of the vendors who participated and some photos of their amazing work:

Hycroft Manor – A truly stately, elegant Edwardian mansion, right in the heart of Vancouver! Hycroft is famous for it’s massive pillars, which adorn both the front and back of the venue. Inside, the highly detailed and ornate decor tells you that you have entered a classy and refined place. Ceremonies are held on the back patio overlooking the mountains and downtown Vancouver. Hart House - Hart House is available as a ceremony venue exclusively for couples who are also having their reception there, making it the perfect location for both convenience and beauty. Located in Burnaby on Deer Lake, Hart House comes with it’s own private lawn, forest, and lake view. Weddings take place on the lawn with the beautiful lake, trees, and heritage house in the background, making for the ultimate romantic setting. Hart House also allows your pet to be part of the ceremony, a bonus of having your wedding outdoors.

Cecil Green Park House – A beautiful tudor style heritage house set in the UBC Endowment lands, Cecil Green is an elegant spot for a wedding. The impressive house backs on to a large, gorgeously landscaped area which blends into the forest beyond. As an outdoor ceremony venue it can accommodate both very large weddings and small intimate ones. And the huge stone staircase down to the lawn makes for a grand entrance for the bride!

Brock House – Imagine getting married with a backdrop of the ocean, mountains, and beach – the perfect setting! Brock House offers just that, with ceremonies taking place on their expansive lawn just above Jericho Beach. With such a wide open space, the decorating possibilities are limitless. A bonus with this venue is that it can also play host to your reception, so the only traveling your guests need to do is to and from the buffet table and bar!

Chapel at Queen Elizabeth Park – Formerly known as the Celebration Pavilion, the Chapel at Queen Elizabeth Park is a relatively new addition to the list of Vancouver ceremony venues. Built just a few years ago, the venue is quite different in that it has both an indoor and outdoor feeling. The entire building is made of partially opaque patterned glass, with huge back doors that swing out to reveal the forest and flowers. The altar and ceiling are made of wood planks, adding to the natural yet modern feel. Best of all, photo opportunities abound in the nearby park and gardens!
