Granville Island Engagement Session – Krystal and Stephen

Krystal and Stephen have got to be two of the easiest people I have ever photographed! It seemed like being in front of the camera was totall natural for them, they were so photogenic! (I myself am extremely un-photogenic, and thus very jealous of their mysterious talent!) We had a great time walking around Granville Island, which I think was especially nice for Krystal and Stephen as they currently reside overseas and don’t get back home too often. I can’t wait for their big day next year!

Steveston Engagement Session – Carly and Daniel

Carly and Daniel were a delight to photograph! I had such a great time wandering all over Steveston with them, and was especially excited to finally have a chance to do some photos with the giant red wave sculpture in Garry Point Park! Although I’ve done many photo sessions in Steveston, it’s rare that I’ve ventured over to the park area, and I’m glad we did this time around!

Granville Island Engagement Session – Natalie and Daniel

I met up with Natalie and Daniel on a beautiful summer day at Granville Island, and had a wonderful evening photographing them in all the neat spots around the market. I love the colours and textures at Granville Island, and Natalie’s red top fit in perfectly with all the vibrancy. Daniel and Natalie are a super sweet couple who are so in love – you can see in their eyes how much they adore each other! Can’t wait for their big day in 2012!

Gastown Engagement Photos – Maren and Andrew

Maren and Andrew are a couple especially dear to my heart, as my sister has been friends with Maren for many years and they toured Europe together. So I was incredibly honoured and excited when they asked me to be their photographer! We had an awesome time wandering Gastown for funky photo locations, and as always the area did not disappoint! I especially loved the crazy graffiti mural we found – it was just bursting with colour!

Brooklyn Designs – Product Photography

My friend (and former high school classmate) Brooke Mosher creates the most beautiful jewelery, so I was excited when she asked me to photograph it! And not just the usual static product photography – but something a little different and natural, to reflect the style and design of the pieces. So we headed out to a local field at sunset, to capture Brooke’s jewelery in all it’s sterling silver and gold-filled beauty. The great thing about Brooke’s work is that her pieces are so versatile – you can wear them with a cocktail dress or with your favourite jeans and t-shirt. And some of our clients even get a first-hand look at her jewelery during our Boudoir Marathons, where we always have a few pieces on hand for clients to wear during their sessions. Pet Photography – Dakota

As a photographer, I have a responsibility to capture the essence and personality of my subjects. But sometimes, that responsibility is magnified when the circumstances change.

Thus was the case with Dakota. Having photographed her and her parents Katherine and Geoff in the past, I was excited when they contacted me for another portrait session. However, it soon became apparent that this portrait session would be bittersweet – Dakota had cancer and only two weeks left in our world. Katherine and Geoff wanted to do a session with her as soon as possible, to document her sweet personality and the joy she gave them every day.

So it was with some trepidation that I went off to meet everyone at Centennial Beach. Could I do Dakota justice? Could I capture her true character? The pressure of this being her last portrait session did indeed magnify my photographic responsibilities.

It turned out that there was no need to worry – yes, there was sadness, but the focus was on the happiness this sweet dog had brought to her human companions, and that’s definitely what came through in the photos. Both Katherine and Geoff were so thankful for the images, and the subsequent beautiful album we created – it was an incredibly rewarding experience all around.

I know Katherine and Geoff miss Dakota very much, and I too have felt the pain of losing a pet. But I’m so glad that there are gorgeous photos that document Dakota in all her doggy glory. Thank you, Katherine and Geoff, for entrusting me with such a precious task.

Henry’s Vancouver Baby Photo Session

When I got the email from Janet and Karsten asking me to photograph their soon-to-be baby boy, I was super-excited for two reasons – to meet their new addition, and to see them again after photographing their beautiful 2009 wedding. Janet and Karsten are a sweet couple, and it turns out that little Henry was just like his parents! He co-operated with all our photo ideas and was a real trooper through multiple outfit changes, sleeping in a wooden bowl, and even being posed with the family dog! Thanks to Janet and Karsten for having me over to do a baby photo session with Henry – he’s a really lovely little man!

Mozart Bakery – Wedding Cakes and Deliciousness!

I first saw Estelle’s amazing wedding cakes at the Savvy Bride Show, where we were both in the “Fire” themed room. I thought it would be great to connect with her further, so I offered to come by Mozart Bakery and do some head shots for her and her assistant Michelle. Kadyn’s Baby Session

Little Kadyn made his big entrance into the world back in October, and I was delighted to photograph him within his first few months of life. Mom Reina also had me do her maternity photos, back when Kadyn was still a bun in the oven. Now that he’s out and about, Dad Andrew and big sister Kaya are enjoying the new family addition too. Kadyn was such a joy to photograph – he had so many different expressions for a little guy his age, and what was especially cute was capturing him in a traditional baby past time – sucking his thumb! Thanks again to Reina and family for having me photograph your beautiful little boy!

Hambleton Family Portrait Session

I had the honour of photographing the Hambleton’s for the first time two years ago, when little Mackenzie was just 7 months old. Well, she’s a big girl now and I had a great time photographing her and mom and dad all over Steveston Village. Fortunately we had a gorgeous fall day, and as always the Hambleton’s were fabulously dressed for their session – add some smiles and voila! Family portrait magic! I love love LOVE repeat clients, as it is truly the greatest reward to have a client come back to you over and over again for their personal photographic art. I am so happy to photograph this beautiful family, and I look forward to creating more portraits of them for years to come!
