http://magnoliaphotographic.com Wedding and portrait photography by Vancouver photographer Laura Millin Thu, 15 Mar 2012 23:36:22 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.1 http://magnoliaphotographic.com/2011/03/ubc-couples-portraits/ http://magnoliaphotographic.com/2011/03/ubc-couples-portraits/#comments Thu, 03 Mar 2011 05:53:08 +0000 Laura http://magnoliaphotographic.com/?p=755 Jennifer and Wesley contacted me with a great idea – they hadn’t had any professional photos done since their wedding several years ago, and with a baby soon on the way, thought it was the perfect opportunity to do a couples session!  Plus, it was fall, and the colours were at their most spectacular – particularly around UBC, where we went for their session.  Strangely enough, I thought I had never met either Jennifer or Wesley before, but upon meeting them for their session, I instantly recognized Wesley!  We had gone to high school together and always had lockers close to each other (due to our last names being in close proximity alphabetically) – it was so neat to see him again, and to meet the lovely Jennifer!  We had a wonderful time strolling around UBC and seemed to find more beautiful photo spots at every turn.  Thanks to Jennifer and Wesley for having me – you make a beautiful couple!

Tara Lasko is the very talented make-up artist who provides her talents at our Secret Session Marathons and many of the weddings we do as well – you can check out her work at www.paintbynumbr.ca. We wanted to do something a little different and fun for the Lasko session, so we thought we’d try a journalistic approach inside their home a la the Brangelina family shoot in HELLO magazine. Granted, the Lasko’s only have one child whereas Brad and Angelina have, what, at least a dozen now? But I think the results were fantastic nonetheless! We then left the home for a shoot down at the beach, where little Amara was fascinated by the water and leaves. The beautiful lighting and backgrounds made for some great images.
